Extra Curricular

The College has a strong expectation that all teaching staff will play a part in the wide ranging activities offered to our students.  We want you to have the opportunity to share your interests, abilities and enthusiasm with the students.  A great variety of opportunities is already provided but it is always possible to extend this according to personal interests.

CULTURAL OPPORTUNITIES

Kapa Haka – There is a group who meet on Friday during lunchtime and Sustained Silent Reading (SSR).  We are developing Kapa Haka with our Year 9 & 10 students with the support of passionate senior students.  This is under the capable guidance of whaea Huria Robens HOD Maori.

Drama – Major and minor production, Theatre sports and Stage Challenge

Music – Choral includes Cantate which is an auditioned choir, Armonia Dolce which is senior girls, Pogonologists which is a boys choir, ‘Hit’ percussion group and a Junior girls choir.

Bands includes Rock, Jazz band and orchestra

Individual tuition includes: violin, cello, flute and saxophone

Competitions include Rock Quest, Chamber Music and Big Sing

Concerts include:  Fresh Jam – Jazz, NZ Music month, Variety show and community concerts

Public Speaking   Our students compete with success in local intercollegiate competitions and also at regional and national levels
