Over the last two years the College has increased its efforts to accommodate curriculum change to benefit students.
- to ensure we comply with Ministry regulations and in particular to cover fully the Essential Learning Areas
- to introduce courses of study designed to provide more students with the opportunity of gaining a "formal" qualification before they leave college

The developments in Transition Education, STAR courses and integration of some Unit Standards into current syllabi have been both successful and popular. At the same time there has been no departure from the academic rigour required in presenting students for the major qualifications still currently prevailing in Years 11 - 13.
As change inevitably occurs it is important to preserve and maintain certain elements of education which have stood "the test of time". I am convinced that traditional values and standards should be upheld. Equally, I believe that academic, cultural and sporting opportunities and general education achievement should be encouraged in every possible way.
Wairarapa College will continue to challenge students to excel and to reach their potential in any field of endeavour. We will also continue to set high expectations for our students in all aspects of College life as a necessary preparation for their entry into the local, national and international community.
