An amazing 12 records were broken at the annual Wairarapa College Swimming Championships last week with Year 10 Kobe Edge breaking six across all strokes. Four of the records had been set by Cameron Ravenwood. Three of them Cameron set in 2012 and the inaugural 100m medley record that was set in 2015.
Kobe broke the Under 15 boys’ 50m freestyle, butterfly, backstroke and breaststroke and then added to his record tally with the boys’ Under 15 100m freestyle and the Open 100m medley records. Year 9 Siena Cockburn broke the Under 14 girls’ 50 and 100m freestyle distances while the Under 15 girls’ 100m freestyle record was broken by Ashley Lowe, Hayley Bresaz broke the 100m freestyle in the Under 16 girls’ and the Under 19 girls’ 100m freestyle was broken by Charlotte Hamill-Harris. Under 19 boys’ champion Xavier Parker broke the 50m freestyle record.
Aorangi won the house points competition followed by Maungarake with second and third was Tararua.
