From rock to jazz to classical and from solos to whole choirs, musicians from all year
levels at Wairarapa College entertained appreciate crowds over two nights at their annual
Variety Show last term.
Over 100 students performed in the two concerts and included acts from three college
choirs: Armonia Dolce (senior girls’), boys’ choir Pognologists and Cantate. Pieces were also
performed by the orchestra, jazz band, two rock bands, many solos and duos and dancing.
Head of music Belinda Carey says the multi-talented group of young musicians enjoy the
opportunity to perform.
‘The audience thoroughly enjoyed the high quality and variety of the concerts,’ she says.
The show was run by Year 13s who also MCed the events. All of the technical sound and
lighting was run by students, many of whom have recently attended a sound workshop.
‘I’m incredibly proud of them all.’
