Hapori Aratoi Art Exhibition

Wairarapa College art teacher Ms Small has worked with a group of dedicated students at Aratoi during Hapori time this term creating an art exhibition. The result is Gone Bird, an exhibition selected and curated by students of Wairarapa College. This truly unique experience gave the students the chance to be involved in the full exhibition process, from selection of works to the practicalities of gallery installation. Congratulations, Charlotte Bunny, Elia Dale, Holly Didsbury, Ella Fraser, Meila Hopa, Odessa Lehmstedt, Jaimee Mobberley and Ella Wenden-Hooper on their efforts and the success of their first, and perhaps not last, exhibition.. The students opened the exhibition and were supported by Aratoi educator Kate Devenny and Nanny Frances Reiri-Smith QSM (Ngāti Kaiparuparu Ngai Taneora, Ngāti Muretu) who retold the story of her ancestor Te Aitu-o-te-rangi Jury depicted in a painting c. 1880 by A von Meyern.
